Widescreen TV Drivers?

hello, im new to this board and am having a little problem. I have a 52" RCA HDTV, and my computer is a P4 2.4, Radeon 9700 Pro. There is the regular VGA output on the back of the video card (which my computer monitor is using), as well as S-Video and DVI (which i will hook up to the TV). So I finally went out and got a DVI cable, and hooked up my computer to my TV, which has a DVI input on the back. So everythink works, the only problem is I cant get it to show up in widescreen, that is, 640x480 shows full screen but its stretched, its not a real widescreen. So i try 1080x768, and it shows, the only problem is doesnt show it in widescreen, its the full 1080x768, so there are black bars on the right and left side keeping it square. So i try 1280x960 and it does the same thing. So then i try some of the widescreen resolutions, like 1152x648 and 1280x720 and 1776x1000 and 1920x1080 (which by the way, in the display properties it shows as my TV's max res.) and none of them work (except the 1920x1080, but i'll talk more about that later) and when i try to select them it just puts it back in 640x480. So the 1920x1080 works but, it still has the bars on the right and left and i have to scroll around the screen to go everywhere cause its too big for the panel. So finally, i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and knows how to fix it, or if i'll need some special drivers or something. Thanks alot. Oh and by the way, while i can only use 640x480, i tried watching some DivX movies, and the quality was CRYSTAL CLEAR, the only problem was, there was still the bars on the top and bottom cause it was stretched, which would be gone if it was in true widescreen. Cant wait to get this going, cause when i saw how clear it was when i first hooked it up i almost shat my pants, no comparison to the S-Video i was using before. Anyway, thanks again.

Well, the problem with most HDTVs is they do not work with widescreen computer input. I'm not sure if your TV is this way or not, but you can ask RCA about it. And, yes it would probably require a driver. They are going to have to fix this problem if they want computer people to buy these things .

so, do you know of any widescreen drivers, because when i go to the display options, it tells me that my TV is just a plug and play monitor. Thanks again.

Sure don't. Ask RCA, they will know if you can run it widescreen or not.
