PHP editor

hey guys. i recently installed phpbb2 and am running it with few problems. but when i try to edit a php file to add a hack or whatever, if i open it in notepad the text is displayed in a way that makes it very hard to follow and edit. this is the case whether word wrap is on or off. but when i open a php file up in ie where the code is displayed not the end result, it looks neat and ordered and etc. BUT i cant edit it in ie. is there a program out there that i can edit php files with easily?

thanks!

drew

Dev-PHP and Crimson Editor both work well.

i use dreamweaver MX i like it coz it numbers all the lines so i dont have to go down counting the lines when i get an error saves a huge amount of time

That's a standard feature across the board actually.

EditPlus is also a nice editor but it isn't free.

I really like the looks of this editor but everytime I start it up it calls home. I think it's just checking to see if there are any updates but I can't find a way to turn that feature off.
