Cisco router config questions

I am adding a fractional T1 from my residence to a business. There are two Cisco 1700series routers involved.

Can I configure the Cisco 1700 series routers in a way to use the same subnet on the respective Ether0 interfaces? Or must I obtain another public IP block? See attached diagram for details.

by your diagram, both Business and Residence have independent internet connections? if this is so, may i ask why you want to do this? a VPN may be the best solution if you just want to have access to Residence from Business. i would like to know you objective, or ultimate goal, becuase i am pretty sure you need to change your 3rd octet. you are throwing a curve ball at me with the 10.16 and 192.168 IPs though

EDIT: P.S. I thought you were supposed to be the resident network admin??

Yes, both locations have thier own Internet connection. VPN is not an option in this scenerio. In fact, another longer term goal is to provide alternate means of Internet access if either site's mani Internet connection fails.

The 10.x.x.x/16 and 192.168.x.x/24 are private IP addressing for the main part of the respective networks (NAT is currently used in both locations).

edit -> I am the admin, but after dealing with over 400 programs and too many users, I haven't had time to learn Cisco IOS config nor abilities.

Previously I used a fixed wireless connection to the local ISP and they had Cicso routers, not I !

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/105/40.html may help. from what i got on that, and some other pages, it can be done, but not with ease. And apparently not a good practice

EDIT: is hardware purchase out of the question?

Thanks for ideas. I'm not trying to use subnet 0 nor all 1s so that link doesn't seem to apply to my exact situation.

Since my orignal posts may have been slightly confusing to some, a better way to state my goal is...

I have my own private LAN using NAT based Internet at home.

The business has a private LAN and T1 connection to the Internet (uses a Cisco 1721 router).

I purchased a fractional T1 to connect directly to the business (point-to-point). I also puchased a Cisco 1720 router for use with the fractional T1 (inside the home).

Now I need to configure the routers to use the new fractional T1. At my home, I want my normal Internet traffic to use my home cable modem connection. I only want to use the T1 when connecting to servers at the business or if my cable modem connection is down.

And likewise, if the business' T1 goes done, I'd like to route some of it's important traffic through my cable modem account.

I have never configured Cisco IOS before, nor have I any education on doing so. I am confident I can do the routing logistics once I understand enough of Cisco's limitations and config method.
