I would highly recommend an nForce2 motherboard. Either Leadtek or Asus would be my brand of choice for such a chipset.
You can get them from $80-130, depending on what model you get. I would definately recommend one with SoundStorm Audio (watch out, many of the nForce2 boards do NOT have this audio, so make sure it says "Soundstorm"). And if you don't have a Geforce4 MX440 or better video card, get one with that onboard as well. Then throw in some low-latency Kingston DDR (get a pair of dimms, as the nForce2 board gets better performance with two dimms).
