Batch file

Hi everyone,

I am writing a batch file (great, another one :$) i was wondering if any one knew of a command line that i could use in the batch file that will allow me to enter a word in to it and store that word as a variable.
I am aware of the SET command, and how that works, my boggle is the bit where the batch file will prompt me for an answer, and store that answer (which will be text or numerical) in a variable of my choice, say %y or something similar.

Thank you for any help that you guys can give me.

Appreciated

Pritesh

Not a clue.
Maybe you could write it in QBASIC, that way you get all the features such as variables and arithmatic, and also the ability to execute shell commands with SYSTEM() I'm not sure how you would get errorlevels back from programs though, maybe:
return = system("command")
but I'm not sure.
Maybe have it run a BASIC program that SETs all the variables you need, then run through the rest in a .cmd or .bat file.
Some stuff from here may help as well:
