system idle is cycles that are not being used by the cpu. This is normal. as for your web page problem. What browser are you using? system specs?

clean spyware out?

Sorry, shouldnt have said that.

The idle process is normal. Doesnt sound related to the other problems.

You'd think so wouldn't you?

That's a legitimate question, and one that I had had myself at first when I used Win2k/XP but now I don't have to worry about System Idle Process using up the Idle CPU cycles. I use FaD to use those idle CPU cycles to crunch for a cure for cancer, SARS, HIV/AIDS, as well as many other projects...

Find more info HERE...

And the best thing is that it has NO effect on your tasks that you do on the computer, whether you're gaming, video editing, photoshopping, browsing the 'net, checking email, anything. So it's a great cause and it really costs you nothing!

Think about it...

Also, have you gone to windows update and got the latest patches for IE? Especially any Service Packs...

It doesn't cost you nothing ... instead of being halted and powersaving by the system's idle thread, the CPU will be running full throttle with these programs. Heat, component aging, and electricity will show up on your bills.

Stan, as others said, the idle task is the one task that gets executed when there's nothing else to do. This task, in modern operating systems, halts the processor to keep it cool and preserve power, until it is woken up by an event that allows execution of one of the pending other tasks.

So, obviously, the less your computer actually does compute, the more time it'll spend sitting in the idle task, doing nothing.
