Kids ASUS A7N8X Deluxe

I have a problem with a a7n8x dlx. and the athlon xp 2600+.
at 1st it just worked fine, i was able to install all software and i got no problems.
i ther realized that the cpu was working at 1100mhz. i set the clock to 166, (so i can get the 333 with the 2x mult. ) ant the mobo simply refuser to post afterwards.
i tried to clean the bios over a milion times, i took the mobo out of the bos and set it up on an isolated surface, i replaced the gfc card, ant the memory sticks. btw. i am using Kingston 256mb DDR333 sticks.

can somebody help?
i have tried everything i know, and i wont get a ph*** post. X|

Reseating the processor

yes, i have, i guess it just burned.
but that is odd, cos the clock speed and th multiplier were correct.

there are some golden dots on the surface of the processor thar mark some components ( i do not thow the english word for those) , and some spaces betweene those are dark and with a small golden stripe. i guess they just got burned...

Send a message via ICQ to JohnE.
Does it post at the previous lower FSB speed? Try setting the FSB back to 133 and see if it posts... if it does then try setting "Optimum" memory timings, rather than "Aggressive" in the BIOS before setting the FSB to 166. Also, make sure you aren't overclocking the processor until you're sure it'll post at 166 FSB.

Good Luck

Yes that sounds like it was, did you use thermal paste or thermal tape?
Also, many people have ran into issues from memory that isn't supported by the chipset, thus causing you to have to run at 133mhz which is the 266mhz speed. What kind of memory is installed?
