Systems Mysterious Dual Monitors

Hi all. I have a Nvidia Ge Force 4 128meg ram. I don't want dual monitors, but my computer always loads up an unknown monitor every time i remove the previous unknown monitor. I am running the 45.?? drivers from Nvidia and don't remember requesting two monitors. I tried to delete the unknown monitor from the device manager, but it does'nt work. Is there a way for me to completely get rid of the unknown monitor that seems to not want to go away? I don't have any problem with my default monitor appearing. I would like to know where i can turn off the dual monitor option. Thanks in advance for the help.

Uhmm, windows probably recognizes the dual ramdacs on the card, therefore it shows up in the device manager as two video devices.. Uninstalling one might uninstall the entire device.

Don't think you can "delete" it, but should be able to "disable" it in the device manager.

YOu can try right clicking the wallpaper, click settings to open the display properties window, and click the settings tab.

Select monitor 2 in the popup window, and unlcheck the "Extend my destop to this monitor" box.

thanks for the advice. It seems that somehow my graphics are somewhat blurred a little as a result of this second monitor loading. i did'nt have this problem with my original monitor that came with my computer. If you think of anything else let me know.

uhmm... you can set the resolution for each monitor. Older monitors have a different refresh rate,, etc..

NVidia desktop manager software is great for setting up dual monitors, with "snap to" options, better anti-laising, transparency effects, progamable profiles, etc. Should be on a CD that came with the vid card, or dl from Nvidia's website.
