Something handy for 2.6 users

If you use the 2.6 kernel, and are happy with applying other patches to it, I recommend the ck patch to go with it.
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/2.6/
Most of the features have already been implemented in the 2.5/2.6 kernel, but there's a few things missing that means some bits run slower on this than they did on a patched 2.4.20 one. This should sort it out.
I haven't tested it yet, but will do when I reboot.

I have run quite a vew 2.4 series kernels with the CK patch set and for the most part they worked well and made for a positive increase in interactive performance. That said my 2.6.0-test kernels have run so well by default I can't see me patching them any time soon

Thanks for the link.

Regards

Well, the CK patches were a must for 2.4, but when I upgraded to 2.6 I didn't have the same responivness i.e. I would type exit in an xterm and it would take a second or two to close the window. This patch fixed it. Its being pushed for inclusion into the mainline kernel anyway.
