Kids Laptop Recommendation

Hi All,

Looking to purchase a Laptop for my sister. The range is about $1000 to $1500 and would really like something that will last her for at least a couple of years.

Laptop Usage:
- Internet/Email
- Word processing
- Some Graphic Design via PhotoShop/Illustrator
- CD Burning
- etc.

I'm currently leaning towards getting her an Apple IBook G3 for about $1500. However price is kinda steep and would truly appreciate an alternative suggestions from the Techimo Population.

Thanks in advance

It's the only off-the-rack computer in my house, but it's a good one. We got a Sony for my daughter last year. It's a Pentium III running at 800mhz. She's in college, and we have it rigged so she can plug-in at school, and also to our network at home. I think we got it for around $1100. She had a choice on the drive, and went with the DVD drive. We have 2 desktops with burners in them.

Go with the iBook. You won't regret it.

She is taking art classes and likes to play around with graphic design packages.

This is more a luxury than a necessity.

Thanks
