Outdoors NewDotNet Spyware

I noticed I had a folder called "NetDotNet" in my C:\Program Files\ directory and my Ad-Aware had detected as spyware.

I selected it to remove it on Ad-Aware but the folder still exists with the following files:

newdotnet4_85.dll (204 KB)
readme.txt (6 KB)
uninstall4_85.exe (44 KB)

It didn't seem like it removed completely so I searched for a website for removal instruction..
I visited http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/N/NewNet_Adware.asp

Procedure 1 does not work for me because it doesn't display that program on the Control Panel Add/Remove.

Procedure 2, After I clicked on the uninstall file, it said to reboot in order to uninstall but when I rebooted I still see the files on the computer.

Procedure 3, I also tried but those damn files are still on my computer. (well, my main question is if it would be safe to delete these NewDotNet folder)

Procedure 4, Okay now when I tried this method and ran A:\uninstall4_50.exe my Ad-Watch noticed me that "Warning! Harmful process identified" and asked me if I wanted to proceed or not, I clicked "Block". What was this method all about? Hoax?

Procedure 5, I did not find those keys, I think Ad-Aware might have deleted it for me...

Would it be safe to manually delete the NewDotNet folder in C:\Program Files\? I have it in the recycle bin but not completely removed yet.

I've read removing it in a wrong way may result in screwing up your network settings or something like that..

man, I hate spyware...

Yes it is safe, or atleast that's what I did. But you may have to restart before you can delete them because they may be in use.

Namie, I got the same spyware program too. Right after I read your post, I thought it sounded familier, so I checked my programs folder, and there it was! Did you happen to recently download and install "The Return of the King" screensaver? Well, I did off of CNET's download page.

I went right to control panel and deleted immediately. The uninstall was successful, and the folder and its contents were gone. I then ran Spybot, which didn't detect it, and then Adware, which did. Apparently the uninstall didn't remove everything. Anyway, Adware removed the final traces. I really hate intrusions like this. Makes me want to TP their house

No, I didn't download that screensaver. I think it was from that damn iMesh program that my friend made me install which I got rid of right away because it was full of crap that contained massive amount of Spyware. (Later found out when Ad-Aware detected over 50 objects or more after the installation)

NewDotNet.com says
"NewDotNet has been distributed along with such programs as: BearShare, iMesh, KaZaA, Go!Zilla, Babylon, Cydoor, Gdivx, and WebShots (others partners may be used in the future)."

Well I guess Ad-Aware did remove the major crap that makes the spyware work and you just have to manually delete the Folder.

I permanently deleted the folder, glad you guys got rid of it too.
