Wierd noise from video card.

Hello,

I just installed a FX 5900 (asus one), works fine and dandy but one small problem.

When playing games, and scrolling on websites and stuff, it emits a very small noise, not to annoying but its there.

I had a Geforce4 4400 that did the same thing, only way I got rid of the noise was replacing it, the replacement card didnt make noise.

Is this normal? or is the card screwed?

Thanks

- voogru

Some kind of static. I do have that kind of problem long ago. But about 4 months ago, it never happens again. It may take a while for that thing to stop making noise. Sorry, I dont have any solution for that but maybe I should look at your motherboard to see if theres connection to the static problem

Possibly the heat sink fan. I had problems with a Visiontek fan and replaced it.The fan is easy to replace.

not sure what cooling yours uses but it could be that the wire is too close to the fan.

but why would it only happen when scrolling & playing games? doesnt happen if Im not doing anything that it has to re-draw the screen.

I always think that it is possible when running a heavy program (like the Flash macromedia for example), a computer would probably needs a lot of juice to run it. The processor would get hotter too and the fan runs even quicker to coolent it.
