How to: Photoshop soccer ball (2x 60KB Pics)
Hello!
I'm working on a brochure for a children's soccer evangelism ministry, and I found this picture on the internet:
I really liked the effect, so I said I wanted to do something like this. As you can see below I have the pictures and everything the way I want it. But the problem is that it's flat.... IOW, I can't figure out how to turn it into a ball shaped 3d picture. Image removed to save bandwidth... If you want to see my pic, click Here. (2.2 MB PNG file)
Maybe I need to use another program, but I have PhotoShop 7, and could probably get another program if need be, but from everything I keep learning about PS, there's got to be a way to do what I'm wanting...
Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks!
David

I know, I'm going to change that, but I didn't want to do any more work until I knew that this was possible with PS.
And, really, it doesn't have to be technically correct. It's going to be about a 2 x 2 inch picture on the brochure, and I'm doing this non-profit. I just am trying to figure out how to make it 3d ball shape.
Thanks!
David
BTW, soccer balls DO have hexagons, but they're surrounding a single pentagon.

i know, i said "some" pentagons believe me, i know a soccer ball when i see one.
but anyway, i am no photoshop expert, but i know i messed up a pic by changing the angle of it once, so you should put each section on its own layer, and tilt each layer back. i am sure there is a molding method in 3dmax where you can wrap it around something, but that photoshop method should work... i will try and see if i can find that feature

I'll let you know if I can figure something out.
Thanks again,
David

here, this is a planar wrap of your image on a sphere, but it doesn't seem to give the illusion of 3D depth... would you like me to place this ball on a white surface and have it cast shadows?
more specular light on the ball? shiny like plastic or shiny like glass?
