JIXIB 0332 1800+ Tbred o/c

I just got a JIXIB 0332 MPMW stepping AMD 1800+ Tbred from newegg.

I have a K7S5A mobo and want to overclock. I want to do the pin wire trick to change the multiplier on the chip, but since you have to take the chip out each time to change the multiplier I was wondering if anyone had heard of this stepping and what it should easily do.

Anywhere between 1.8 ghz and 2.0 ghz would be fine with me.

It just has the stock hsf.

Send a message via ICQ to Ultima
What you could also do, is get yourself an Asus A7V8X mobo, you can get those babies for 60 bucks nowadays.

They support 333Mhz fsb, can change the multiplier from the bios without having to hardware wire anything.

Bought a Asus a7n8x-x and was able to overclock to 2.2 ghz. However, I could not get the sound and nic to work with Windows 98 so had to rma.

Oh well, was fun while it lasted

Did the pin trick on the K7S5A and changed the multiplier to 15. Now runs at 2.0 Ghz (133.3 x 15).

I can change the FSB thru CPUFSB. Have had it to 2.2Ghz (2600+)(146.6x15) stable. Have not tried 166.6 FSB but do not think it will do that. Chipset is SIS 735 and think that is too much of an o/c for the chipset.

Could probably change the multiplier more, but 2.0 Ghz for a 2400+ is fine for now.

Not bad for a $52 chip and $40 mb.

How did you just "change the multiplier to 15?"

I know the wire trick unlocks it, but how did you actually change it from that motherboard (I thought it didn't have any adjustment and was all automatic?).

http://www.ocinside.de/index_e.html

I used wire strands from a floppy cable and placed them in the sockets that changed from my original 11.5 x to the new 15 x.

The above website shows the changes.

You can also change your v-core the same way but I have not done that. The 2.2 Ghz was done with just the stock 1.5v.

You are correct that the bios does not have an adjustment for the multiplier or vcore on this mb.
