Formatting Windows Drive

Okay, here's the deal: I have a separate partition on my hard drive just for Windows XP Pro. I have my applications, documents, media files, etc. on other partitions. Can I format the drive with Windows XP on it, reinstall, and not run into any problems? Or would I have to reinstall my other applications also?

Send a message via AIM to Siliconjunkie
You will have to reinstall applications that were installed on the OS you wipe.

Is there a simple way of finding out which programs need to be re-installed, or am I stuck with trial and error?

Even if some work, there may be some degree of instability. I'd just reinstall all applications. I generally keep the OS and applications on a 6GB primary active (bootable) partition and other stuff on separate disks/partitions.
