Printer doesn't show but works

I'm running Windows XP Pro with an HP 1215 Photosmart printer. The printer works fine but doesn't show up so you can't share it on the network. You go to the add printer button now and nothing happen's when you click on it.

do you have administrative priviledges?

Yes I do, I have since uninstalled and reinstalled. On reinstalling it allowed me to share the printer which solved my problem with sharing but still does not show up but I did fix the problem I was trying to solve. thanks for your response.
