Newly Built Computer

Hello All:
Just finished putting together my first computer,

Asus Mobo, A7N8X Delux w/ volcano 10 HS
Corsair XMS Twin Memory Chips (2) 1.2G
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro
Thermaltake XaserIII Case
WD 120G HD
Pioneer DVR A160

So I get this computer together carefully, time to fire it up...

Computer starts, fans are running, I hear no beeps, computer will not boot up, or post, nothing. I've reseated the memory chips, the video card, took out battery and reset the jumpers for an instance then put the battery back in, still nothing. I guess I will take out the Mobo and test it with just the CPU&HS, memory and video card and see if it boots or post. After I've tried all of this and the computer still doesn't boot up what is the next step in trying to find out why this thing won't boot up or let me install an OS.

Any help on this matter will be deeply appreciated.

Double check the 20 pin connector to the mobo, usually has a clip thingy to hold it in,, may not be seated properly.

Aslo, usually a four pin connector next to it to power the cpu and ram. Is that hooked up?

I "know a guy" that did that once.

You might check your voltage switch on the back of the case to see if your running the right voltage. 115/230

I kinda went through the same headache not to long back. I basically rebuilt the machine twice plus other things like trying bare video card, 1 stick of memory .....blah blah bla

My fans were spinning, no video, no beeps no nothing. After about 4 hours I remembered I was showing someone my new case and they asked what that switch(115/230) on the back was for and I told them but was playing with it too.

Long story short, wrong voltage(230). Machine spun up fine after that.

Thanks for the replies, I have no 4 pin connector on this Mobo next to the power connector and no voltage switch on the back of the case. Something is definately not right here.

the only reason im gonna say this is because ive done this a few times. you may have burned your CPU if the HS isnt seated properly you can burn your CPU out.

Ok, all is well, pulled the mobo and reseated everything, when I gave it some juice it fired right up with a great sound (1 beep).

I got windows XP Pro installed and I must say I sure am glad there are forums around to help out us newbies when it comes to building your first computer.

My Processor AMD Athalon XP 3000+Barton

Thanks to all that replied with your help,,, I should be buying you all a beer. Thanks a million.
