viewing/fixing other computers thru internet

i have xp pro the other computer is win 98. my freind lives far fr me and she wants me to fix her computer. i tried to tell her over the phone but she cant figure it out. i heard about remote assistance. how do u use it? also i think theres a firewall on the other side and i have mine.

think you both have to have XP to do remote assistance. Just look in the help and control center with the keyword remote assistance in your machine.

You can both download MSN Messenger 6.0, and transfer files and Pictures, but that will mainly only have a chat avenue while she is working on hers.
