Outdoors Is it just me or do Samsung DVD Drives cause hair loss(due to rage)?????!!!!!

OK, so my old 12x Samsung dvd stops reading dvds, but reads cds flawlessly, i get it replaced with warranty, never use the new 16x Samsung SD-616t dvd drive to play dvds, then a year later, when my warranty expires i rent a dvd for sum reason, i pop it in, can't read!!!! it just doesn't read, the light keeps flashing for like and hour and then i just take it back out. i updated the firmware but nothing. i don't this this is a faulty drive because this happened to my old drive too. i think reinstalling windows fixed it last time(with formatting) so i might try that again. but i just wanted to know if anything similar has happened to you guys before, or is this a double freak accident? what did you do(other than buy a new one)? what can i do? i am gonna buy a 5.1 system for my comp (z680s) and a new sound card (SB audigy 2) so i don't want my dvd drive to not read dvds, bcuz i will watch many after!!!!!!

thanx for ur help and time guyz!!

The laser in CDs and probably DVDs also will fail if the DC voltage drops too low. What is the wattage rating of your power supply? Do you have installed..any of the monitoring software?..if so, what is the 5 and 12 volt DC when your system is under load....

Dell Computer

I have a Dell Dimension 8300. In January the Samsung SD-616T DVD-ROM drive failed. This was under the Dell warranty so I tried to have that very good drive replaced. Dell kept sending me LG Electronics HL-DT-ST GDR8162B DVD-ROM drive. Feature for feature the LG Electronics drive doesn't even compare to the Samsung. The Samsung drive has an annular laser incorporated along with ARS (Acoustic-noise Reduction System) and ABS (Anti-vibration Ball Balancing System) for reduction of vibration and noise, also the noise reduction system produces faithful and quality audio and video reproduction. Dell won't even sell me this drive even though it's under warranty. Another thing is trying to speak to those people in India, the Phillipines and everywhere else is really frustrating when one cannot understand them. These representatives aren't fluent nor knowledgeable with computer nomenclature and always seem to be reading from a monitor in their attempts to diagnose any problems. Any Dell purchase in my future or any of my friends? I think not! My advice, buy locally and from a reputable dealer that backs up their products with service and parts availability. Best Buy?
