New system is acting up! won't boot!

I just installed my new motherboard, processor, heatsink, etc. (check on sig) and my system is acting up quite a bit.

At first my graphics card wouldn't even work so the computer woudln't start (brand new GF4 Ti4600) so I'm using my roommate's right now (FX 5200). Then it wouldn't recognize my hard drives, but i played around and eventually got those to work. It still however won't recognize my floppy (used several cables, etc. but still nothing).
The worst part is that it will start Windows XP and then after a split second it just restarts. ????? I don't know what else to do, so if anyone can help me that would be great!

I would start by clearing the CMOS, put in the parts you want to use, and reboot.
start by using just the basics,, cpu,Vid card, and ram. Go the the setup screen, and find the system health page. Watch the CPU temp for about 10 minutes, and see if it levels off between 40 and 50 centigrade.

Then add the cd, and hard drive, one at a time. see of they are recognized correctly in the CMOS. Should be able to get to Installing Windows, Make sure the CD is clean and free of fingerprints.

If a drive is not recognized,, probably jumbered wrong. Some WD have , master, slave, and SINGLE.

hope that helps,,keep posting your progress

thanks. i'll probaby try that. i was also thinking about formatting because the last time i was booted up, my hard drives were configured for a different mobo and cpu. i'll report back later.

edit: also my temp in the BIOS is 25 C, so i doubt that's the problem! (i'm also not o'cing.)

Random restarts are usually a memory or power supply problem .

Good luck .
