Outdoors anybody getting alot of virus's lately?

i sure have. im not being foolish and downloading them from yahoo as i can scan them and see theyre infected right there. but the thing is, i got an email to my yahoo account but it said the sender was actually MY regular email address i use from my i.s.p.

most of the virus's seem to be stating they are microsoft fixes .exe's which i find quite humorous. but lately ive gotten emails like this:
__________________________________________________ _
I'm sorry I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses:

Undeliverable mail to pdautyj@aol.com (this email is always different)

Message follows:
__________________________________________________ __

and there is always an infected executable nicely waiting for me to run. i always stay up on the latest definitions and scan and what not, but its seems to be happening a little too much lately.

Yeah I agree. I dont get any in my personal email accounts (5) that I have. But in my work email accounts which I have 4 of, I get more then you could imagine. This is such a waste of company time and bandwidth.

furthermore......

what would you do if you dont have the virus yourself but yet your yahoo mailbox keeps getting bombarded every half hour or so? W32.Swen.A@mm is def. the virus but since i used all the methods on symantec's site to make sure i dont have it filtering yahoo crap is about as useful as you know what on a bull.

i am waiting on a response from yahoo but have never really gotten much help with issues in the past. anyone else dealing with this constantly? its easy as hell for me to delete my broadband email account but when i need my yahoo account unfortunately, it makes it that much worse.

i think im gonna send the swenfix.exe i have to my g/f. it its her, shes toast.

If yahoo mail has a filter area, start creating filters. My ISP has an Options page with a manual filters selection:

Here's what I have for Microsoft to block the bugs:

I log into my ISP's webmail and set it up from there. This works really good for spam mail as well. Pick a word from the properties of the spam mail such as partial address or a word from the subject line or a word from the message body that no one else will use in your wanted mail. Viagra being one or 8859 for the encrypted subject lines.

Once it is setup on my ISP, I use Outlook Express to get my mail.

Cheers!

i appreciate the pic, Beemer. well i actually looked around my i.s.p's site for an option to set up filters and they have an anti-spam option which is turned on by default(sent email to isp about it). id like to set up my own filters anyhow, but the real issue is with my yahoo account. i changed it around a little as in the pic. hopefully this virus will eventually stop but who knows.

Why do you think I gave it a break and decided to use Linux more frequently? I get viruses in emails everyday and new powerful viruses keep comming like the lately W32.Swen.A@mm Virus and others. I think I am and other people are getting really tired of all these crap, I mean whats the first thing you do after installed Windows? You need an Antivirus right? And hackers? Firewall is needed. Oh no Spyware might be crawling in my computer, Antispywares, and so on. Its really a pain nowadays and the patches you need to download from Microsoft can also be a bit lame. Trojans, Worms are also harmful things that you can easilly encounter today. So the question is what to do? Its a really hard question for a very complicated subject and until now we just have to live with it. But I agree though it can really be a pain and sometimes you just have to take some fresh air isnt it? My escape was Linux but thats just mine, others can have different. I just felt like I needed to escape from all this crap. But living today without Windows is really hard unfortunately. Hopefully answers would be available to these questions, I just hope they come soon.
