ECS K7S5A Pro bios flash question

Just bought a comb from Fry's of a ESC K7S5A Pro version 5 and a AMD Athlon 2400+. Trying to upgrade the bios but am wondering which upgrade to use. When I boot the screen shows AMI K7S5A Pro 1/21/2003 S. The manual says look on motherboard for the version - the only thing I can find is a "3".

The ECS download page for the K7S5A Pro PCB 5.0 shows the following choices.

Version Release
Date
021209 12/16/02 AMI® BIOS.
021216 12/16/02 AMI® BIOS.
021220 01/22/03 AMI® BIOS.
030110 01/10/03 AMI® BIOS.
1030120 01/20/03 AMI® BIOS.
030121 02/19/03 AMI® BIOS.
030811 08/25/03 AMI® BIOS.

I want to flash because Athlon will only show up as +1800

There's probably no reason to flash your bios. You just need to change your FSB settings in the bios. It comes @100/100. Just set it up to 133/133.

Use this one:
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/ecs/...cheepobios.htm

It is the Cheepoman BIOS that allows you to modify a bunch of setting that you can not modify with the ECS BIOS. It works great and is the BIOS running my k7s5a.

If you are set on using the ones above, use the latest release (Aug 25, 2003).

Thanks guys - changed it to 133MHz and that fixed it. Also booked marked the bios update page in case the stability goes to heck later on. Thanks for your help(s).
