DDR400 with VIA KT400?

I'm using Gigabyte GA-7VA board, KT400 Chipset and DDR333 256MB Memory. Considering to upgrade to DDR400 512MB. Would I get any performance gain, or should I stick with DDR333 and buy another 256MB?

What's your OS? I'm assuming it's either Win2k or XP. I can't say that I know what the "right" answer is but I do know that if you're using Windows 98 then the extra 256 mb of ram won't really mean much to overall performance.

If you are using a 333 FSB processor (or 533 if it is a P4) and you are not overclocking you will not see a performance increase simply from DDR400.

This is because DDR400 at 333 will run at the exact same speed as DDR333 at 333.

also if your motherboard is like mine it will only be able to use 1 stick of ddr 400.

I think the KT400 doesn't support all DDR400 modules, so you should check that out first. If I could only remember where I got the list of DDR400 memory modules that work with that chipset....
