HELP change my FSB from 100 to 133 and now will not boot

I just replaced my CPU with an XP 1800+

Turned it on and it ran fine, but the FSB was set at 100. So I went into the bios to change it, saved it, then the screen went blank. Turned off the computer. Turned it back on and now it will not boot. It does not use the hard drive or the floppy drive but tries to use the CD. I do not have a cd boot disc, just a floppy one.

Any thoughts?

What's your motherboard manufacturer and model number?

You might try to clear the CMOS:
1) Remove power cables from the mobo.
2) Move the jumper at JP4 to pins 1 & 2 for a few seconds to clear the CMOS.
3) Now put the jumper at JP4 back on pins 2 & 3.
4) Reconnect the power cables
5) Turn on your PC to see if your mobo will POST.

(These are the instructions from your manufacturers manual on how to clear the CMOS.)

I cleared the cmos and it booted but again at FSB 100. tried to change it to 133 and it would not post.

Cheepoman is the name of the OCworkbench.com o/c bios for the K7s5a

That's good that it booted. That means the hardware is OK. Now to figure out the correct way to change the FSB to 133.

I didn't see a jumper on your board for the FSB so it has to be changed in the BIOS setup. I'm sure someone will be along shortly that has used this board.

Just for grins , try clearing your CMOS again so you can get into your CMOS setup and choose "Load Best Performance Settings" and see if your FSB is set correctly the next time your PC POST's. If that doesn't work try "Load Optimal Settings". If the FSB is set correctly an XP 1800 should show as 1.53 ghz when the PC POST's:

AX1800DMT3C <--Palomino 1.53Ghz Stock Multiplier=11.5x
AXDA1800DLT3C <--Tbred A 1.53Ghz Stock Multiplier=11.5x
AXDA1800DLT3C <--Tbred B 266FSB 1.53Ghz Stock Multiplier=11.5x
AXDA1800DUT3C <--Tbred B 266FSB 1.53Ghz Stock Multiplier=11.5x

Well I think that I gave up for now.

I reflashed the Bios to the updated ECS K7S5A bios. It booted and I could change the FSB to 133 and it held.

I think that I will try CPUFSB (I think it is called this) the one that lets you adjust the settings in windows and see how this does.

Thank you.

I'm not sure which is better, the Bios route or the Windows route. If the bios route is significantly better, than I may try reflashing the bios with the o/c bios again and see if it works any better.

Thank you for your help

Does that seem logical?

I've always used the BIOS route. I was about to suggest returning to the stock ECS BIOS. Glad you got it going.
