My computer stinks

I had trouble with my emachines rebooting out of nowhere, so I came and started a thread and someone suggested I get a new modem driver. I went on linksys' site and got it. A little after I got that I noticed my computer has been lagging terribly. It takes forever to "warm up." When I want to play BF 1942 it takes 5 minutes to load a map. Then I get an error message saying explorer is messed up. Then another error message says I have a driver error. Im wondering if its that modem driver. I cant seem to find it and delete it, and I dont know what to do.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

what OS are you on?

to delete a driver, just go into device manager and remove the device in question, in this case, your modem. restart, and it will ask you to reinstall it

If it is XP Pro you might want to check your System Log in the Event Viewer for some clues.

(Right click My Computer and then select Manage)

I tried to restore the system back to before I got the driver, but it said it couldnt restore to that date. My computer seems to be fine now though. I think the storm may have affected comcast, and with my computer being connected to the internet all the time, comcast must have been sending me bad packets or something slowing the whole computer down.
