Whoa.. First of all, welcome to Techimo. Second - I'm not sure what you're asking for here. Can you clean that up some?

how do i setup the sharing files in kde and gnome so my xp can see me on the net work? i can get the mac os X to share just fine with dave (another computer?). is there such a critter for linux my distro is mandrake 9. 1 (To share files?)? My cpu is p3 866 with a 10gb and 40gb drive and 396mb of ram and a 10/100/1000 nic card I use vmware 4.0 with xp blows and any info will be helpful.

big thanx

Ok I tried to clean that up some.

One quick question. Are the Mandrake box and the XP box the same box? Or is VM running Mandrake inside of windows? VM ware running Windows inside of Mandrake?

Thanks
Jkrohn

Not a bad translation JKrohn. I don't think Babelfish could even have pulled that one off.

"Dave" is a file and printer sharing program for Macs-to-PCs and proportedly supports NTFS

amicrawl -To share between Linux and Windows OVER A NETWORK the program to use is Samba, and the best way to administer/configure it is SWAT. Samba is not as easy or intuitive as Dave, and does have its limitations -I'm not sure if you can write anything to NTFS using smbmount, but you can read and copy using Samba for sure. Samba will require you do do some reading of documentation to finally get it all together. Take heart though, Mandrake is one of the easier distros to get it working on.

If you have XP running on VMware in Linux and want to share files -sorry can't help you there.
