preparing hardrive to install OS

can anybody tell me how to prepare a new harddrive for an OS installation?

- Is it recognized in the BIOS?

- What's the capacity?

- What's the OS?

Normally you can just "FDISK" (setup your partitions) and "FORMAT" (FAT, FAT32, or NTFS)

I always use a 9X/Me bootdisk to do my "FDISK" and then let the setup "FORMAT" the drive for me.

You didn't list what OS you are going to install.
If it happens to be MS XP you can can format the drive during the OS install if you have your BIOS set to "Boot From CD_ROM".
