Outdoors New Mobo doesn`t turn on with CPU

Just bought a A7N8X mobo by ASUS. Got everything installed, Vid Card, Sound Card, etc... Powered the thing up, and the comp keeps shutting down after about two seconds. Pulled the XP2800+ and@now the comp stays on on without turning itself off after power-up. Changed to a XP1600+ and same problem... Computer keeps shutting down after about two seconds with no error or beeps.

A7N8X mobo
XP 2800+ Barton
1Gb 3200 Ram (2x512)
ATI Rage 9800 Pro 128 Mb

Anybody have any ideas?

This is probably gonna sound stupid, but are you putting a heat sink and fan on the CPU?

And plugging the fan into the CPU fan pins on the mobo? Otherwise it will shut itself down.

Check all the connections, also. I think the four prong molex powers the CPU ? RAM

Heres an idea you could try...

Look to be sure hsf is attached and is NOT TOUCHING CPU!!! Be sure the HSF rests on the rubber feet on the chip ONLY!!!
CHECKLIST

~Have you applied thermal compound, or a thermal pad to the processor?

~Have you seated the HSF properly?

~Are all the cables and connections secure?

~Have you checked the breaker switch on back of PSU? Try setting to 115 and reboot...

Still have problems?

Check some similar threads in the mobo/cpu sections here at techimo...they may help you figure out your bug...
