No CD Audio Input?

I noticed that the M-Audio Revolution sound card does not have a CD audio input (the wire that plugs in the back of a CD-drive and into a sound card or the motherboard). Could I still play audio CDs on my computer without it? If I can, what is the point of the audio cable then? If I can't, is there anything I can do to be able to play my audio CDs on my computer?

You can. The point of the cable is to have analog audio.
However, dae works fine these days, thus the cables are obsolete.
