Is this normal?? (windows updates)

Ok, so I have this new Dell laptop...of course when I go online I see it needs 38 megs worth of updates...ok, no prob.

My adelphia cable is pretty fast..the dl'in part takes no time.

But when it got to the end of the "download progress" it sat there for a while..I thought it was hung, lol.

Then I saw that the "install progress" started..ok, I thought all was good.

Ok, that was like 2 hrs ago at least....now it has been sitting forever with the install progress bar all the way over to the right.....its not locked up at all, the app is still running, I haer the hard drive clicking once in a while...


Is this normal?????? Why is this taking two hrs??

its a celeron, is that the reason??

or does it take that long to install 38m of updates??

So far I havent seen it actually DOING anything..(like dos screens popping up briefly) that would indicate its installing stuff??

And if I click on it to close it gives me the warning about moving away from windows updates etc etc.

What should I do, sit here all night???

I've had this happen before.

Power Off . . . Power On.

I then just ran Windows Update again, all is well.

yeah, I just restarted and went back to update page and it must have hung on one update cuz thats all it needed.....

I try to avoid violence but sometimes I am tempted to wanna slap Bill gates, and now Michael Dell is added to the list.
