Kids New here! help needed with unknown audio files ...

Hi , I am new here and have a problem hoping someone can help out!! I have hundreds of files that just out of no where appeared in my music file. ( Not a shared file) I am using windows xp and kazzalite++ but all my downloaded music goes into my shared file I have been doing some copying of home cd's to media player and the songs will end up in my music file which is normal but when I just opened up my music hundreds of files where there(that can only be opened with a program and none would open them) all the files are ending with DXL exsample TDBIDXL,STUCIDXL,STFFIDXL,STFEIDXL,STF9, ect... all the files have the same time and date and are the same file size which is 32 bytes. After a bit of research I found out that theses files are called audio indexing files. I do not know what this is or why this has happened?? Can I just delete them all from my music file? Will it affect the operating system of windows? Any input would be appreciated I am stuck and do not want to delete the files in case it screws things up. Great site and forums, Glad I found it!!! from Carolann

welcome. only thing i can think of is if you dont finish downloading files from kazza lite and you sign off abruptly, it will keep those temp files so when you log back on it will continue to download the unfinished files. this happens in the shared folder for kazaa lite so if thats the case its totally safe to delete. other than that do a full virus scan as well in case this doesnt apply to you. i dont think it would be harmful to delete these files but dont take it from me.

p.s. when you keep saying your music file, do you mean " music folder" ? as in like a directory?

Work

thanks for the info, but theses files that have come up are not from the kazzalite downloads that are unfinished as I am aware of what they do look like they are a series of numbers in your shared folder. My downloads are only directed to my shared folder and not my music file. So this is not the problem. they all came up under the music file with dxl listed at the end of each file. The files had an picture on it the same one that comes up when you have to open up a program, and then you choose what program you want to open it with. They are not unfinished downloads thats for sure. The internet search said they were audio indexing files but can I delete them from this music file. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP OUT I AM STUCK HERE....????? YES I am sorry I did mean my music folder not file!!! Hundreds of these files showed up in my music folder under a sub folder that is in there called various artists as the windows xp put the folder there when it did not reconize some of my cd's that I was copying it created that folder which has been there for awhile now and never before have I had any problems with it.Also since these files showed up there I am having problems with my windows media player freezing up!!! HELP!!!!

Run anti-virus to scan any possible thing on your computer You know, things can happen during downloading with kazaalite. Virus do come so easily through there what I know of.
The computer could not recognize your files, mainly because the audio file format (such as *.mp3, *.wav), has been changed. Well something has been changing that. Scan your computer, to check any possible virus.

Your window has been running into a mess. Media player freezes up like in 'confusion' when trying to read the selected audio file. I think its because of the 'weirdo' audio format again. Thats what makes it stuck. Again, I do think, it could be also the source you downloaded isn't completely done. Try and download it again. You could contact kazaalite for support or questions.
