Kids K7S5A Pro Vid issues

I recently bought a K7S5A Pro Motherboard with Athlon 1800+ CPU for my youngest son and after reloading with my copy of Win 2000, had no problems.

When my fathers computer ate itself (NIC, Harddrive,PowerSupply, Power Strip, Burner) I went out and bought another - thinking "Piece of Cake."

On Boot up system refused to Load operating systems 2000, 2000 pro and XP due to the MB not being "fully compatible" with ACPI protocols.

I dug around and found out that ACPI data resides on the Bios, Went to the proper Website and updated the Bios.

System accepted 2000 and I then upgraded to my fathers XP.

for some strange reason,... after my father in trying to adjust his sound,(I have no clue), pressed Power off, Sleep, and Hibernate buttons multiple times in rapid succesion on the keyboard.

System locked on startup regardless of how I started it only 98 boot disk would work to completion.

Wiped and reloaded system, added an addition ram Stick of the same speed to make him feel better.

His Videocard is a PCI Nividia geoforce 2 card.
Everytime I've loaded the drivers for it, the system scrambles the picture and locks up.

removing the software leaves me where I am now, complete access to the computer including internet - but all in crayon colors.
I've run a diag on the video card, appears okay.

HELP!!!!

I recall that there is an issue with using the #1 PCI slot.
Try moving the video card to another slot.
Has something to do with the USB 2.0 "sharing" the #1 PCI.

scrambled vga

Sometimes that happens if you have to repartion the harddrive
and reformat it

use the fdisk.exe in xp to check the hard drive, while there check the version of os under dos partion section of hard drive

learn more from internet search (partioning harddrive).
