Why is my internet slow?

For sometime, my internet at my workplace runs so slow to load anything. Even when the loading bar on the bottom shows its 'complete' but it'll take ages to actually show the page or the source.
Especially when I was trying to download a picture from the internet. When I click on the pic, it will eventually loading the source. Sometimes the picture is not there or gone all of a sudden, and when I refreshes it for a number of times (that means I have to wait), it will then show u the source.
Sometimes also, as the picture loads, it stuck and didn't get to finish the whole of it and at the bottom bar it says, 'Done'. When I refresh the picture, it will load down and just stuck again to where it stops before.
Is there anyway I can fix my net up? I want to know, what's wrong with my internet

is this with all sites?
Have you tried another browser to see if maybe something else is going on?

It could be IE (assuming you use IE) has some spyware attached to it doing some other work you're unaware of.

What type of connection are you using?
I agree with Vass, try out an other browser to see if its Interent Explorer who is making it go slow. Also it could be that many people are using the bandwidth as Soulja said. Hope this helps, and good luck

dan

P.S. There are programs that can help you speed up your internet, dont remember their name, but they seemed to work well

Some websites, yes. Not all but I think if the source capacity is small, then the loading would be okay. If its too heavy, then the stucking problem happens.
I check a little about router and internet stuff. There maybe something about packaging, where the source were sent through the internet one by one to fulfill the source of it. Like a puzzle. It explained like, it comes with the top layer picture, then middle layer and then the bottom layer. But when theres some sort of a interference, the layer got disturbed. Whether you get the full source with errors on it, the source stuck and didn't get it to finish or just "page cannot be displayed" or the source like picture, unavailable with a small cross box on top left hand corner.

Thats what I think too, about the bandwidth when everybodys trying to download something on the same website for some source. I don't about the connection, its univ.'s. I'm using univ's computer. For sometime I surf the net to download something early in the morning, the loading is barely fine. Sometimes so okay. But when it comes around evening, the problem like I have just said happens.

I'll try another browser, the netscape navigator is the only browser available in this computer. Thanks so much people, you've all been so helpful

As I have mention before about packaging, what i meant was the packets sending. Just noting this out if u guys didnt quite get what i meant.

Well, if thats the case, then I think I cannot do anything about it
