MSI GeForce 4400 TI 128 Megs OC?
I'm getting less then average performance with my MSI 4400TI card and thought about OC'ing it with the utility provided by MSI. My question is, how far will I be able to OC it? Currently my Memory Clock is at 567mhz and my Core Clock is at 290mhz. Everything appears to run fine but I would like to know how far it can be pushed without blowing up in my face. I do have heatsinks from Thermaltake mounted onto the memory along with 3 case fans. My rig is:
AMD Athlon 2100+XP
ASUS A7V333 MB
1024 PC2700 Ram
Windows XP Professional
80 Gig 7200 RPM HD
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

bump it up in 5-20mhz increments. play games and/or run benchmarks and look for problems. such as tearing, offsetobjetcs, or other stuff like that. when these start apparing, it means you have maxed out.

It's pretty possible that your Ti4400 has the revision A2 chip in it, which maxes out at about 310 Mhz, so as you can see you're probably going to be approaching the ceiling for core overclocking.
The memory speed can be found by reading the numbers off your chip and a little research. Memory quality will be the limiting factor for overclocking there.
In general, you want to do what tony said. As you get higher in speed, take smaller increments with your clock jumps.
Out of curiosity, what do you mean that you are getting less than average performance? I have a Visiontek Ti4400 and think it's a great card. Are you talking about 3Dmark's online results browser or something?

Well, I've seen in benchmarks ran by a magazine such as PC Gamer where they have a similar rig to mine and get amazing frame rates with games such as Quake III, Jedi Knight, Etc. They run 3dMark 2001 and get scores above in the 10k mark and I get no where close to it. Sometimes when I play games based on the Unreal Engine or Quake III, I get significant slowdowns. I figured the problem might be with my vid card. In a game such as America's Army (1.9), I'm getting abysmal frame rates with all the options (shadows, lighting, etc.) turned WAY down. Averaging about 20 FPS outdoors with about 30 standing still indoors. Any solutions?

Have you installed the latest drivers and made certain that antialiasing is disabled?
I was getting over 10K 3dmarks with my Ti4400 and an XP 2000+

512 mb PC2100
Have you gotten the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com?
How many other processes do you have running on the PC?

About 25 other processes running. I'm not that tech savvy but please bear with me. In theory, shouldn't my rig with 1024 megs of PC2700 Ram out perfom your 512 Megs of PC2100?

It would based on the processor speed, but the different size and speed of the memory won't make that much of a difference for video benchmarking.
For optimum performance, you'll need newer drivers and as many resources that take power away from the processor to be disabled.

Got the newest drivers but I am clueless to what processes should be disabled or not disabled.
