Steam 2.0 confused

I downloaded that huge 400MB Steam 2.0 + CS 1.6 + HL updates file and CS works fine.

But I want to play other mods. How do I install them? All I have is the mods exe files. Which folder?

HELP!! NEED dod and specialists!

just get the reg. steam, no games, it should work. it should just transfer all the games to the steam folder, shouldnt even ask for a cdkey.

i dont believe dod and the specialist works with STEAM. just cs. if you still have the old cd installed, you should be able to load them up from there

I just used the EXE to install dod to my normal HL folder. When steam ran, i told it I wanted to play DOD, it found the game, chached it, and downloaded the tiny 1.0b patch thingy and now it plays fine.

What about other mods than Team Fortress Classic, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat and Ricochet? Those are the only ones that appear on my Steam Games menu, its' really annoying, I can't find an option to add other mods anywhere.

When I first started it it said it had detected the other mods I have installed, and do I want to transfer.. I selected yes, but it took so long and there was no change in the status indicator thingy I thought it must've frozen.

Now it doesn't seem there is any way for me to get other mods on Steam other than reinstalling the whole thing... And I really don't want to do that if possible, since it means I might lose stuff that I had in the original Half-Life directory before Steam converted it to whatever format it uses for it's cache that it mentions in the status window.

If anyone could help with this, it would be really great
