ATI just screwed me

I reinstalled Windows XP on a junker of mine but the drivers that came with my Radeon 7200 were for Win98 and 95 only. I downloaded the latest drivers from the ATI website and tried to install them. The drivers said they would not install without DirectX9 installed. Ok then, I'll just go install DX9. DX9 absolutely refuses to install because of some crap about "driver signing". DirectX somehow knows my video card doesn't support DirectX9.
So now that DX9 won't install, ATI drivers won't install! I don't remember any of my Nvidia drivers demanding that I install DX of any version. Without ATI's drivers, I can't play anything in OpenGL even. Think about that for a second; since I don't have DX9, I can't use OpenGL. What the hell???

Damn ATI pricks. They will never get another dollar from me - ever.

Don't blame ATI, you have a Microsoft-related concern. The driver signing can be bypassed to force the install.

In Contrpl Panel --> System --> Hardware tab, click the Driver Signing button, and temporarily change the Driver Signing to "Ignore".

Proceed with installation as normal.

Rob, your suggestion didn't fix the problem. I turned off driver signing but I now get a NEW error message. Check this out.

New Error (about 55kb)

"Page cannot be found"

NM, saved it to desktop, opened it in Photoshop.

Have you tried installing the driver in compatibility mode?

1. Right–click the executable file or the program shortcut to the executable, and then click Properties.
2. Select the "Run this program in compatibility mode check box".
3. From the list, select an operating system that the program runs in comfortably.
4. If necessary, also change the display settings and/or resolution, or disable the Windows XP visual themes.
