Hows this for uptime?

I just got a day position and inherited an old Tru-64 Unix FTP server. I was told they were afraid to reboot it, after looking at the uptime I can see why:

# uptime
20:51 up 1102 days, 16:13

Thats 3.0191780821917808219178082191781 years! (roughly) I am sure we would loose at least 1 drive if it were bounced.

how was it able to withstand such punishment? I marvel at mine if i go a week without something failing miserably or just restarting on me for fun.

That's an impressive uptime. I remember when I was first shocked when I saw an uptime of 400 days.

Nah, things break, I have a new Linux box I am working to migrate the 1500 users to. Almost there, but not quite.

Only thing that would get me fired is a rm -rf /

I remember the first time I went from working nights to days. Man that was rough. It took me a good long time to get adjusted to that.

Congrats on having to get up in the morning now with the rest of us - or rather some of us anyway. And good luck with the new Linux box. (It's good to hear that SCO's bluffs aren't scaring all commercial users away from using it.)
