I too have verizon and due to the slow speeds (lite version) I called continually to tech service and they did upgrade me to the 1500 bps version with out any additional cost. I think they will do it for anyone if you really complain.

Our cost is the $34.95 but they give us a $5 credit when bunbled with other services.

Did you have the 768/128 version before? The reason I ask is I have the same package, and I usually get 75-80kb/s download speeds. Is that around what you got when you had the slow plan? Maybe I should start a new topic....

It's interesting that they gave you the speedy plan at the same price, I wonder if they will do the same with mine.

I think you're confused between k and K, capital K is kilobytes, whereas k is kilobits. Connection speeds (such as "56k") are measured in kilobits not kilobytes. Thus 128K would be quite fast (1024k),
1K = 8k

Just to make Vhockey86's explaneation even easier.

56 / 8 = 7

So with a 56kilobits connection your MAX download is 7 Kilobytes/s.

With my 1500 kilobits connection, I can download theoretically download at (1500 / 8) 187 K/s.

Actually I download at about 172 K/s which tells me I am getting (172 * 8) 1276 kbs connection.

Hope I helped

You will probably get more help over here: TechIMO Tech Support Help and Computer Hardware Expert Forums

you shouldnt need to open any ports. What kind of speeds are you getting and what package speeds are you paying for?
