Remote Desktop Connection

With WindowsXP, if I was ever logged into my computer and I remote desktoped to it, when I logged in, it would go to the session I had open.

I'm now giving Windows 2003 a go, and when I remote desktop into it, instead of connecting to the session I have running, it logs me in again as a second user. If I go to taskman, I can see that I'm logged in twice. Is there anyway I can get it to just log me into the current session. The way it's working now, I can't get to any IM's I may have waiting and other such things...

I dont use the XP version. I use VNC viewer. If you log onto a system with VNC your basicaly viewing the running desktop of that system. Very easy and simple to use. You can run and open any app on that system just like you were working on it.

Here's the information you need:

Quote:
1. Start mstsc.exe and enter the settings for the computer you want to connect to
2. Save this connection to a file like "foo.rdp"
3. Open this file in Notepad (it's just a text file anyhow)
4. Add a line to the file that says "connect to console:i:1" (no quotes)
5. Save the changes
I pulled those 5 steps from Joe Bork's blog. You can find another way to do it on that page.

Edit: Here's the other way mentioned:
mstsc /v:machine-name /console

- rp

have you tried using the wizard from the main m\c to transfer the settings to the second box?

I use XP Remote Desktop and it's "chippa" after using a floppy to tranfer the settings, It wouldn't work with manual setings tho'.
