It's almost not worth overclocking. Unless you can get one of those "gold finger" devices for free (or practially free). The maximum a Slot A cpu will do is 1050Mhz. So even with the very best of luck, it's not much of an overclock. Probably not noticable. And maybe will make the system less stable.
I ran a Slot A 900mhz cpu at 1000mhz for about 2 years. The overclock was soldered at the cpu board, no Gold finger device used. It was still going strong when I sold it.
Also had a Slot A 700mhz cpu that was really a rebadged 900mhz. It is currently running at 1000mhz and has been for a number of years. Using a Gold finger device.
Also had a Slot A 500mhz that was really a rebadged 600mhz. But fiddling around with it too much, popping the case on and off and removing heatplate one too many times, I killed it. I knocked off one of the little teeny tiny resistors and totally lost it. ...Keychain.
