slow down cd playback?

a friend is trying to learn spanish from an audio cd on her laptop, and the speaker is going too fast http://www.rfbd.org/catalog_2.htm#cdsoftware is $85 software that claims to slow down playback, is there anything free out there?

she isnt too tech savvy, so ripping to mp3 and slowing down those files are not an option.

Does that laptop have windows 2000 or XP? I wonder if Digital Audio is enabled. Try right clicking on the cd-rom drive, and poking around in there and find a check mark that says disable digital audio. What digial audio does is send sound through the IDE cable in the laptop or desktop computer. Of course, then the "audio cable" has to be connected to hear sound using the traditional method...analog...sometimes this is better because digital audio sucks the life out of a CPU. In your case, it could be the result of the "chipmunk sound or going to fast". Worth a shot...

no, it plays normal speed. it is just the spanish guy speaks too fast for her to catch it all. so she wants to slow it down.

A free (but more time consuming way)
would be to rip the cd to the hard drive. Open it up in goldwave, and either play in in goldwave and adjust the speed manually, or do a time warp.
