Kids Changing Packets to bytes

I have a netgear network card and XP it shows sent and received in bytes but all others liek the USB connection to the cable modem shows in PACKETS how do I change that to bytes It's kinda hard to determine how much was received/sent since packets can be any size. Is there a reg hack or something?

Thank you
David

Look here for info on packet size ->
http://www.gmd.de/Topics/ATM/tuning/

However, I suggest you get some bandwith monitoring program, eg. bandwith monitor pro to monitor the transfer rates and transferred data amounts. I'm pretty sure those kinds of programs just check the determined packet size and multiple the packets by that.

Packets can be in tons of sizes. But there is a limit. 800k? Something like that.

Eh? 800k?
I think the normal packet size is 1500.

The minimum is something like 48 (64) or so bytes, this is what I remember...

I use a prog called DU Meter. It keeps stats on bandwidth used by day/week/month/year. Its pretty good and would recomend it over anything else.
