Dismantling Compaq Armada 1540D

Hi,

I am trying to get the top off the above metioned Laptop. I am really just wanting to change the fan as it has now had it's day and keeps me awake at night when it starts.(This is in my Cabin on a ship and is used for the Alarm System so it can't be off at night when I am the duty Engineer).

I have removed the drives, battery, keyboard and all the screws in the back panel. I have undone the two strip plugs under the screen and the two pin cable between these as well as the one screw in the Mobo under the pivot for the screen.

I can get the top up about 1/2" at each end but something still seems to be holding it in the middle. I don't want to force it and break the case until I have exhausted all other avenues.

If anyone can see what I am missing I would be very appreciative for that info.

Cheers

I have downloaded service manuals from Compaq site for a couple of models but I didn't find one for the the model you list. Have you looked at this list? http://productfinder.support.hp.com/...y=armada+1540d
