sony laptop fx215 problem

I am having a problem with the display of this laptop. Basically when you boot the computer the backlight turns on but the screen is black. The screen will stay black, however if you squeeze the top of the LCD (not downward but together like squeeze it flat), then the lcd will start working and display the proper image. As soon as the squeeze pressure is removed however, it will either go back to black or slowly fade to black or being to jitter the current image. I have opened the laptop completely and checked all connections with the LCD I have even unscrewd all components of the LCD and checked them all (all the chips on the back of it etc). And after putting it all together again I still have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the ribbon cable behind the LCD is loose, but you said you checked everything...

Hmmm...
I would try turning it on with the LCD open and see if the cable makes the difference when you press it in or not.
