Internet Explorer 5.0 problem

A friend used one of my computers for a few hours today. When she finished and I went to use it the Forward/Back buttons in IE no longer work. She has no idea what she did to cause this.
Any ideas to reactivate these buttons will be appreciated.
OS is 98SE and the version of IE is 5.0 that came on the MS CD.
Thanks

Restart your computer in MS-DOS Mode.
At the DOS Prompt, type scanreg /restore. (There's a space after scanreg.)
You will be presented with 4 dates and one hidden at the bottom of the screen.

Select a date previous to the mishap and click Restore. I think it's restore....Something like that. You'll figure it out when you see the page. It's easy and will fix you up in a jiffy.

Cheers!
