CD Burner Tracking Error

I have a Cendyne 40X CD burner and today when I tried to burn a couple of CD's with Nero it failed. I also tried Clone CD but it failed as well. The message given was a "Focus or Tracking Error" and the process stopped. Anyone have any ideas whether this is a hardware or software problem. Because it happened with 2 programs my guess is that it is hardware. TIA

Try dropping the burning speed and see if that helps. Could be the CD-R your using also.
What are the specs of the computer that might also help

It goes through with the simulation before it writes the disc. It happens during the burning. I tried with a CD-R and CD-RW.

Abit KT7
Win XP Pro
512 MB RAM
60 GB Seagate HD

same happen to me a while back, found out it was my cd i was using, also i lowered the speed, helped
