Geforce4 MX440 3dmark2k1se=1100
I know this is a very low benchmark. I have also went into the games i play, and am getting the same fps as my Voodoo 3 3000 16mb card was getting.
Pentium III 550
384 MB SDRAM
SOYO SY6vba133 mobo
60 gig hard drive
Could someone help me?

in all actuality, that score is very right.. i was lucky to get 1200 with my K6/2-550 and a Geforce2 MX400
Its your CPU, and more than likely your CPU's ability to put through data on the FSB..
you may want to look into selling your current motherboard processor and ram for an athlon board if money is tight.
Your video card is bottle necked by your CPU and perhaps by the AGP speed, yours may only be AGP 2X whereas that card performs optimally at 4x(occasionally 8x)

I disagree.
With a Radeon 7500 64 MB DDR which is slower then the slowest of the Geforce 4 MX series on my friends Athlon XP Barton 2800+ scored over 5000 points in 3DMark01 se.
The highest processor your board is capable of using is a Pentium 3 933 Mhz CPU, the only problom is that a 933 Mhz P3 still costs around $100 online.

ti graphic cards have more polygons than MX
ti is for 3D modelling / gaming
MX is for 2D design (also for gaming but it wont have the best details!)

I also agree about the processor bottleneck issue... You may not be able to take advantage of the better card with the system you have.
I used to have a GF4 MX 440 card along with an Athlon XP1800 and my 3dmark 2001 score was near 6,000. So there is some potential with that card...
Did you UNINSTALL all the previous video card drivers and download the latest drivers from nvidia's website for the MX card?

Or you can just upgrade your video card.

darthgary, that won't do him any good, his scores will remain the same, his setup already doesn't have what it takes to push the GF4MX, much less tag along with it.
basically the bottom line is if you want to fix it, you'll need a new motherboard, cpu, and ram[preferrably DDR]
personally i suggest an AthlonXP motherboard + CPU combo if you're tight on cash.
Ram goes for cheap as well, 512MB being ideal, 256MB being adequate. shoot for at least PC2100 DDR

I get similar scores with my Geforce 4 MX 440 and my computer specs are even better than yours:
Intel PentiumIII 1.4 Ghz
512 MB Ram
40 GB Hard drive
I agree that this video card is lame, specially for gaming, but again I dont play games so this card serves wellfor me. Maybe you'll have to think about upgrading your computer specs a bit if you want better scores. I actually dont suggest you to buy better/more Ram or a better processor since they wont boost up your scores as much as buying a better video card. I have mine in the PCI slot, since my motheboard doesnt have a AGP Slot, maybe thats your situation too, if so the you can PM me and I can give you information about great PCI video cards.

Your motherboard without a socket adapter will support up to a 933 mhz processor. If you get a socket 370 to tualatin socket 370 adapter, you could put up to a 1.4 ghz processor in. The 1.4 ghz Celeron strikes me as a worthy upgrade, as it has 256k L2 cache like the older coppermine PIIIs, and unlike the 128k that is on the coppermine celerons. I know Newegg has a 1.3 ghz Celeron for $45. The Tualatin PIIIs have 512k L2 cache and are available in these higher clockspeeds, but their price is too much. $207 for a 1.4 ghz!
Powerleap's compatability database reports that motherboard working with it's tualatin adapter.
And FYI - On my 1100 TBird, I get about 2900 3dmarks on my PCI GeForce 4 MX 440se.
