Cable Modem and USB Connection

I have an Toshiba PCX2500 cable modem and it has connections for both Ethernet cable and USB.My question is.How can I use both of these or can you?I have one computer strictly for on line games and don't need the hassle of trying to figure out which ports to have open to play a game. For example.I play Madden 2004 and when I try to host a game it's impossible.I can play if someone else if they host.I tried to open all the necessary ports for the game and have no luck.I figured I could use the USB to connect to the net and then unplug when finished.Trouble is I cannot figure out how to have both the ethernet connection and USB connection work at the same time.I can do one or the other.Does anyone know how to do this or am I out of luck? Thanks

i assume "opening up the ports", that you have a router or something?

as for plugging in the console and the pc together and use them at the same time wont work.

Yea a router for ethernet connection. But,usb no router involved. This isn't a consol game this is a PC.Let me try to clarify. There are 4 PC's.Three will connect to internet with router as firewall and the router is connected to the cable modem. No problem there. All work fine.1 pc with the USB connection will connect directly to the cable modem.Heres a link to it.

I cannot seem to get the 1 computer to get online with the USB connection to the modem. Now,If I disconnect all the other computers to the modem and just connet the 1 computer with the USB connection I can get on.But,all four will not work with the above configuration.A least I haven't been able to figure out how.

I've heard that certain models of cable modems will work with both the USB and the Ethernet drivers but you have to find the driver for the USB connection.

It MIGHT work if your ISP assigns IP's via DHCP and sees the USB and Ethernet as two separate connections. This worked for a friend of mine who has cable and gets double the bandwidth with the two connections. It didn't split the bandwidth in half.

call up your ISP, they usually have a list of compatible modems for their internet
