Outdoors IE highjack attempt

internet explorer started acting off the wall today. a white screen(no homepage) and when i clicked on iie in the toolbar, ithe toolbar would disappear. then after a few trys, some erotic ad would flash on the screen, along with a couple of other ads. so i ran adaware and it detected two attempts at what it called IE highjack. so i deleted the two attempts ,along with a couple of cookies, and now ie doesnt work. after i click on ie,i can type google in the adress bar and use it,but its really slow. so,in my not so great wisdome, dug out my win xp install cd and tried to reinstall ie from the cd,to no avail.

i m using firebird at the moment, but would like to get ie working. i like them both.

any suggestions?

thanks,eh/

brad

there is a new virus going around that will show porn on your screen, and thats it. i dunno if that is what you have going on, just thought it may be pertinent. are you running AV software? did you uninstall IE from add/remove programs? you can download ie from www.microsoft.com/windows/ie
