Password protecting folders using XP Pro

Hi everybody.

My question is about password protecting a certain folder on my comp.

This folder contains personal data that I don't want anyone but me to have access. Like if a friend / brother / cousin etc. comes over and starts snooping around I wanted them not to have access without a password. Like if they tried to open the folder it would promt them for a password.

I've been trying to do this with XP Pro (looking through the help and whatnot) but when I go to the properties of the folder and then to sharing the "Make this folder private" is greyed out.

I am currently the only user setup on XP if that makes any difference. I've tried the encrypt folder thing but still the "Make this folder private" is greyed out.

If you need more info just ask.

Thanks

Jim

Do you have a password on the sign in right now, or do you just have it set to automatically go into windows?

I am guessing you would have to have your user account and also have a "guest" account for other peeps to use.

Send a message via AIM to Hey-Todd
I use Folder Guard Professional and have been very happy with it so far. They have a 30-day trial on their website.
